You know, I’ve got this old Canon DV camera which actually does pretty well considering the abuse it’s been through (getting somewhat “wet” at the waterfalls of Iguazu in Argentina). I’m really enjoying learning the Wordpress platform, and seeing the kind of amazing things that can be written into it in the form of a plugin or widget.
So I’m considering expanding to a part-time video blog, but hosting my own rather than depending on one of the billions of video sites (YouTube, GoogleVideo, etc). I seriously doubt anybody actually “wants” to see me, much less hear me, but as a technical experiment getting it going I am very interested (especially if I run directly over firewire to the machine and avoid messing with tapes which are destined to be left to rot).
I’ve installed this awesome plugin which uses the reasonably well-known FLV player by Jeroen. The dead simple in-line embedding makes it simple enough to get the video displayed that far more time can be spent worrying about content than presentation (in contrast to some other video sites on which I have, of late, been required to work).
Look for the first live experiment sometime this week.
